FOUNDATION MARE

*DELIREO III aka SISSY

 1994  - 2002

We would like to thank Stephanie Baldwin of

Equine and Western Art, Norco, CA. www.warhorselover.com

for this beautiful portrait of Sissy, our beloved foundation mare.

She has truly captured Sissy's soul.

*Delirio, a mare sought by many but found by few.

Sissy was born February 22, 1994 in Mexico and was bred by Cruces Galan.  Her sire was the bay stallion Aquileno VII and she was out of Ventisquera (the only cross between Eminente and Airosa XXXIX).  Ventisquera produced only one foal in her short 3 years of life and that was *Delirio III, our Sissy.

Sissy was admired by all who saw her and adored by all who knew her.  The optimum of what an Andalusian mare should be, I always said "I wish I had one thousand Sissys..."  Now I wish for only one ... her.

Because of her I bought even more mares and another stallion;

Because of her I witnessed and experienced the true joy of a horse's soul and spirit;

Sissy's was the oldest, most gentle spirit I have ever met.

Because of her and for her, my eyes fill with tears, my heart wishes for her to at least know how much I loved and miss her.  Sissy, my gentle, loving mare, you will never be forgotten.

A white rose bloomed the day she passed on, the rose was called "A King's Ransom" and she was worth far more than that.  We will be planting this rose on her grave in the garden.

Her brown eyes gleamed with untold wisdom

behind their soft gentleness shone true majesty,

Never mean, she welcomed anything into her space

Whether human, dog, or another mare's foal

Loving, gentle, yet deep nickers generated from silken nostrils;

Lips, made of velvet, never once bit;

Only caressed, even the clumsiest and smallest of hands.

She was the kind who knew what was in your soul;

She who shared her own so willingly.

So easy it was to be drawn into her aura

and lose yourself in her knowing gaze and gentle nuzzle.

Truly the grandest of mares

She had more soul and more wisdom than most people.

She never judged, only accepted

She never took, only gave

Never hurt, only loved

She was and will always be the gentlest of souls.

She is Sissy, I wish she could have taught me more.

*Delireo III
"Sissy", bred in and imported from Mexico, was the farm favorite with her endlessly flowing mane, tail and classic Andalusian looks and of course her sweet, sweet temperament.

Sissy  produced four fillies with

*Merlin I: Mulan (black), Enchantress (grey)  Melody and this year's foal (bays).

Sissy's mom died when she was a few weeks old and she now leaves behind a six week old filly who will be lovingly cared for by Sereena.

Sissy developed a liver abcess which burst and she was humanely put to sleep on Sunday, June 16. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

A  Prayer - Author Unknown

You are gone from this life

We miss you

There was a special place that you filled

Which is now full of emptiness

You can never be replaced

For you were special and unique

Please forgive us our inadequacies

If we did not love you enough

Or in the right way

Please forgive us if we misunderstood you at times

Or did not listen to your heart

But hear us now

As we express our love

And our appreciation for you

We know that your time here is done

And we must let you go

But we will miss you

And we sorrow our loss

Sissy, take now the high road

Unto the sacred heavens

O spirit whom we love

Go as you will

Unto the beauty and glory

Of that heavenly domain

Though we will miss you

Love and friendship will never be lost

And we will meet again one day

On the joyful road of Eternity

Where the soul flies in freedom

It is with love that we say farewell

To Sissy,

Beloved friend, sister and mother

All say farewell

So be it

Blessed be, we love you
